• Scenario/Use Case: Which practical scenarios do you think can benefit  from keyword-search research on Big Data?
• Methods (I): How a user can be supported in the formulation of keyword queries/analysis of the obtained results?
• Methods (II): What should the result be to a keyword query in Big Data?
• Benchmarking/Evaluation: What kind of benchmarking environments (which  include scalability, accuracy and feasibility) can be devised for Big  Data analysis?
• Application Fields: How can the results of KEYSTONE be used to add  value to open data and foster the creation of data intensive companies?

The talk will propose an holistic approach to evaluation of keyword-based search systems and discuss some limitations of the current benchmarks. It will then frame the proposed approach in the context of the CLEF large-scale evaluation campaign and suggests concrete steps for preparing a proposal for a shared evaluation task in 2016.

SESSION V

Krisztian Balog, University of Stavanger (NO): Evaluation Initiatives for Entity-Oriented Search

In this talk Krisztian Balog will provide an overview of intiatives aimed at evaluating entity-oriented search from an information retrieval perspective.
Specifically, Krisztian Balog will discuss three tasks: (1) entity retrieval, (2) knowledge base acceleration, and (3) query understanding. Along the way, he will identify shared building blocks and highlight some open challenges. Finally, he will present recent efforts towards making evaluation more realistic in a “living labs” setting.

11.45 Interactive sessions with the aim of

  • WG3: finding the active research areas in WG3 field [chair: Omar Boucelma]
  • WG4: representing and collecting datasets for keyword search [chair: Paulo Rupino]

4. Travel Information

Košice is situated right at the heart of the region of East Slovakia. Košice has its own international airport, rail connections direct from all Central European capitals (Bratislava, Prague, Budapest, Vienna), and it is connected up to the main European road and motorway networks.

By airplane

There are regular flight connections with the Slovak capital city Bratislava and international air connections with the Prague, Vienna and London. For more information about all flights schedule, visit www.airportkosice.sk

The international airport in Košice is just 6 kilometres south of the city centre. The airport is connected to the city centre and the main train and bus stations by public bus number 23 every hour. The bus journey to the city centre takes around 15 minutes and you can check the timetable here: http://imhd.zoznam.sk/ke/cestovny-poriadok/linka/23.html. You can buy tickets in a ticket machine placed in front of the airport building (0, 60€) or directly from the driver (1€ ).

You can also use a taxi service to get to the centre. The price of the taxi service to the dowtown starts at 10 €.

You can also fly to Budapest Airport and continue to Kosice by train.  Ticket for shuttle bus can be bought also separately from CassoviaExpress and AirTrans.

The Krakow Balice airport also provides many cheap Europe connections, but the traveling to Kosice is less comfortable (crossing High Tatra mountains). Shuttle bus from AirTrans costs more than 100€.

By train

Train connections from Vienna, Bratislava and Prague will take you right to Košice city centre. The comfortable journey by EC/IC train from Prague takes 8 hours, while from Bratislava it is just under 5 hours. If you travel at night, you can use the couchette or sleeping cars.

Košice is also linked by rail to Budapest, with two direct EC/IC train connections – morning and afternoon, with the journey taking around 3.5 hours.
