2nd International KEYSTONE Conference

IKC 2016

Cluj-Napoca Romania, 8-9 September 2016

Research call

Since large-scale data sources are usually comprised of a very large schema and billions of instances, keyword search over such datasets can suffer from several challenges mainly related to scalability, interpretation of the keyword query intended meaning. Whereas state-of-the-art keyword search techniques work well for small or medium-sized databases in a particular domain, many of them fail to scale on heterogeneous databases that are composed of thousand

The discovery of suitable, i.e. semantically-related data sources, is another critical issue, hindered by the lack of sufficient information on available datasets and endpoints. Browsing and searching data on such a scale is not an easy task for users. Semantic search can support the process aiming at leveraging semantics to improve the accuracy and recall of search mechanisms.

The theme of the conference is about keyword search on massive data sets and all the topics that surround it. This list includes (but is not limited to) :

  • Keyword search on big data
  • Keyword search on graph databases and the Semantic Web
  • Use of Linked Data
  • Web searching and information discovery
  • Development of techniques and tools for Search and Analytics
  • Social Web
  • Search-based interaction
  • Privacy in keyword search
  • Benchmarking for keyword search

The authors of the best papers will be invited to extend their work for a special issue of an important International Journal

Submission Guidelines

Authors can submit their work in the form of

  • Regular Paper, representing completed and validated research (long papers 12 pages max, short papers 8 pages max)
  • Case study reports: Reports on real world cases, using the STARR (Situation, Task, Approach, Results, Reflection) template (6 pages)
  • Discussion Papers: papers already published in other conferences

Authors should submit a paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling. Papers have to be formatted using the Lecture Notes in Computer Science style available at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html. Only Regular Papers and Case study reports will be published in the proceedings.

The proceedings will be published by Springer (Lecture Notes in Computer Science).
The publication of the paper in the proceedings is subject to the presentation in the conference by one of its authors. The proceedings will be published after the conference.
