How to move around in Coimbra

By Taxi

It can often be easier to travel by Taxi between locations in Coimbra as it allows commuters to avoid walking distances and longer rides. Taxi fares are competitive with bus fares, especially if the ride is split between three of four people.

By Bus

A good option to move around in Coimbra is by BUS. The BUS lines that can take you straight from the hotel areas to the Polo II, the place where the conference will take place, is line number 38.

Other useful BUS line is number 34. You can catch it in the Polo II and it takes you to Praca da Republica, another central part of the city and to the old part of the university, via the stadium where there is a very large shopping centre with a lot of options of restaurants with very nice prices.

Please check all the timetables here: http://www.smtuc.pt/geral/index_horarios.php.

Tickets can be bought from bus drivers (1.60 euro per journey) or at SMTUC shops, located both near the "Largo da Portagem" and "Praca da Republica" stops. At the shops, packs are available which cost less per journey.
