1st International KEYSTONE Conference
Coimbra Portugal, 8-9 September 2015
This track is particularly oriented to ECI (Early Career Investigators, <8 years after the PhD) and PhD students. The main goal of the track is provide them with the opportunity to present their research (through a poster or a short presentation) and to discuss it with the attendants and senior researchers.
If you are a PhD student, a ECI or a group of them and you have just started an independent research career and would like to get some pieces of advice and/or collaboration on topics related to KEYSTONE, then you are invited to submit a maximum of 4 pages describing your work in progress or a position paper with ideas you want to develop.
All submissions will be evaluated by at least three reviewers and around 6 of them will be selected to be presented at the conference.
The selected works will be presented at the conference. The presentation will consist of two parts: The four Minutes Madness and a Traditional poster presentation.
Four Minutes Madness is a fun event oriented to teams or individual ECI and/or PhD students to present their research in 4 minutes. Each presenter/team can use some slides to help them during this short presentation (a projector, a computer, and a remote control to navigate through the slides will be available on the floor). After 4 minutes, the team/presenter must leave the floor (escorted if necessary) and the next presenter/team begins. The running order will be established and published in advance by the organization committee.
The total duration of the four Minutes Madness will be 25-30 minutes and the main goal of each team/presenter should be to capture the attention of the attendees so that they and senior researchers in KEYSTONE visit their slots to discuss with them, provide them with some feedback and/or establish some type of collaboration.
After the Four Minutes Madness every team will go to an assigned slot (desktop) where they will receive the visits of the interesting attendees and researchers during 1 hour. Each slot will have a place for an A1 poster, a power strip to plug computers and a table.
